Fellowship Application Procedures
Applications for both the David Stevenson and William Diaz Fellowships must be received by
March 31, 2008.
Completed applications should include one (1) original and five (5) copies of the following materials:
- An application form

A proposal, limited to five (5) typewritten pages (standard 12 pt. font, single spaced), containing the following items:
a) a clear explanation of the proposed research project or activity including a description of the research design, and a statement of the project's importance to the field of philanthropic and nonprofit sector studies defined to include the nonprofit sector, nonprofit organizations, nonprofit management and leadership, philanthropy, and other closely-related topics; b) a statement of your own scholarly and professional goals and an explanation of how this project relates to them; c) a definition of how you will define success for this project; d) a timeline for the project; e) a budget outlining use of the fellowship funds (no indirect costs allowed)*; f) a statement of commitment to participate in the annual ARNOVA conference as a David Stevenson or William Diaz Fellow, and an explanation of how you propose to present your project at such a forum. - An additional one-page statement of long-term commitment to the field describing how you plan to pursue your own scholarly and professional goals in the field of philanthropic and nonprofit sector studies (as defined above) after completion of this fellowship.
- Curriculum vitae
- Transcripts (or other materials when transcripts are not issued) from graduate educational institutions attended - for doctoral students only.
- One letter of recommendation from a department chair, dean, or other supervising faculty member who can in particular speak to the quality and content of the applicant's work, and indicating support of the applicant and the proposed project and the willingness of the institution to administer the fellowship funds on behalf of the applicant.
Conditions of Awards
Fellowships must be completed between August 1, 2008 and July 31, 2009. Fellowship recipients
must present their projects at the 2009 ARNOVA Conference, November 19-21 - location to be announced.
Fellowship recipients must accept or decline the award by the date designated in the award letter
and must agree to the stipulations in the Terms of Awards for NACC Fellowships that accompanies
the award letter.
